Someone asked me "why the dog?" The simple answer is "why not?" The sorcerer himself is on a game legal base that lifts out of the vignette, so theoretically pretty much anything could be there. The real answer though is that I think people and magical personnas particularly have a strong affinity for animals and the jackal makes an excellent travelling companion for this character.
